Here are the top five stories in Cumming today:
- Good Vibes Nutrition Inc. will bring good nutrition and taste to the Cumming City Center. Husband and wife Brant and Kelly Trainer started Good Vibes to provide healthier choices, like smoothie shakes and iced teas, to customers. Brant shared that their products "are a great way to help people manage various nutritional aspects of their health, such as overall calorie consumption, protein and carb intake, and generally focus on well-being through better convenient choices." - A jailhouse cook has been accused of sexually assaulting female inmates according to Georgia deputies. Charles Henry Rice of Cumming faces three counts of misdemeanor sexual battery and jailed on a $17,100 bond. Hall County Sheriff Gerald Couch said, "I will not tolerate this kind of behavior from any employee. Further, I commend the women who reported these actions to our staff." (Sacramento Bee)
- 11Alive's "Oh Say Can You Sing" anthem contest winners have been announced. University of Georgia graduate, Rachel Norman will sing 'The Star-Spangled Banner' before the start of the world's largest 10K on Jul. 4. Kaitlyn Hendrix of Cummings took the win for the kids' contest. ( The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- Wood Partners and CP Capital US expand their partnership with the groundbreaking of a luxury apartment community in Cumming. Alta North will open in late 2023 with pre-leasing starting in the Fall of 2023. The community will give residents an array of nearby dining and retail options and access to Atlanta's city center. - A local family is grateful for the community's kindness amidst their teen son's battle with brain cancer. The Palmour family has received money to pay for medical costs through various fundraisers and donations. There will be a concert fundraiser for Mason Palmour at Buford's Tannery Row Ale House on June 24 at 7 p.m. (Dawson County News)
