Ryerson told deputies he had met to buy tools from a man he'd made contact with on Craigslist. He said he had purchased tools from the same man in the past.

But during this transaction, the man shot him, Ryerson said.

After a lengthy investigation, Frederick was identified as the suspect in the case. He was arrested at his home in Grayson in October.

Small amounts of heroin and cocaine were found at his residence, as well as firearms, at the time of the arrest, police said.
