- Community members voiced concerns about the Forsyth County Board of Education's proposed budget and mileage rate during the board's regular meeting this week. Eight homeowners present at the meeting expressed worries that the new budget, which is $58.4 million higher than that of the previous year, represents the potential for rising property taxes. - An alumna of South Forsyth High School is facing backlash after several articles she authored for USA Today were discovered to contain "fabricated" sources. - Amid blazing heat, the Forsyth County Fire Department issued a reminder to parents about the dangers of leaving their children in a hot car. Division Chief Jason Shivers demonstrated how quickly a car can heat up in the summer sun, placing a child's safety seat in his county truck along with a thermometer. Within 25 minutes, the seat had reached 92 degrees and the thermometer on the dashboard had reached 120 degrees. (WSB-TV Atlanta)
