ICYMI: Man Killed in Lake Lanier Boating Accident Identified
The man was tubing behind a boat at the time of the accident, authorities say.

CUMMING, GA -- Authorities on Tuesday identified the 34-year-old man who was killed in a boating accident on Lake Lanier on Sunday evening.
Arie Elek, of Rockville, Maryland, was the victim, said Georgia Department of Natural Resources spokesman Mark McKinnon.
The incident happened shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday.

McKinnon said the man was tubing behind a boat in Bald River Creek on Lake Lanier when he was killed. Details of the event have not been released and will continue to be investigated in coming weeks.
McKinnon did call the death the result of a single-vehicle accident.

It was not immediately clear whether alcohol was involved. No charges had been filed in the case as of Monday afternoon.
