The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Cumming.
Good morning, hello! It's me, Nicole Fallon-Peek, your host of the Daily. Here are all the most important things to know about what's happening locally...
First, today's weather:
A shower and thunderstorm. High: 86 Low: 70.
Here are the top five stories today in Cumming:
- A Cumming man has been arrested after allegedly providing Forsyth County deputies with a false name to hide his previous arrest warrants. Officers pulled over the 58-year-old at Browns Bridge Road at Chattahoochee Industrial Park after noticing the driver stopped at a green light. Deputies say they looked up the man's vehicle to uncover his real identity and discovered his license had also been suspended since October 2021. (Forsyth Herald)
- Deputies have arrested a Cumming man who allegedly pulled a saw blade on employees at a Domino's Pizza earlier this month. Witnesses alerted police to the incident around 8:45 p.m. on Jun. 17, when 31-year-old Gabriel Reynoso reportedly screamed at employees at a Publix on Matt Highway before entering the pizza restaurant. Reynoso faces charges of simple battery, criminal trespass, obstruction of law enforcement, and disorderly conduct. (Forsyth Herald)
- The Cumming Arts Center is seeking artists for the upcoming "Hot Summer Nights" art show. All local artists are invited to submit their entries before the deadline on Jul. 17. The exhibition will run from Aug. 4 through Oct. 1. (Cumming Patch)
- The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office has arrested a woman who heavily damaged the interior of a residence in nearby Alpharetta. The man who lives in the home on Fernbank Drive says he had no formal relationship with the suspect, 29-year-old Ashleigh Rollins, but says he believes she is a "professional squatter" who acted out after he did not respond to several of her text messages. Rollins has been charged with second-degree criminal damage to property. (Forsyth Herald)
- The Hall County Sheriff's Office issued a warning on Tuesday for residents looking to celebrate the Fourth of July at nearby Lake Lanier. Officials say four people have drowned in the lake since Memorial Day, with three of those drownings occurring in one week. According to the Forsyth County Fire Department, these incidents often occur when people try to swim out to islands on the lake. They reminded swimmers that the distance across the water is farther than it seems and often includes strong currents and waves. (Cumming Patch)
