The case remains under investigation, deputies said.

An AMBER alert was issued for Brooklyn on Friday, July 29, with authorities saying she was believed to be in extreme danger.

Later, authorities said she was believed to be with Spires, 31, her biological father, and Clay, 19. Spires had an active warrant for tampering with custody.

Last Monday, sheriff's deputies said Brooklyn called her mother from a blocked telephone number and "told her mother that she is with friends and she is OK."

She would later make similar phone calls to media outlets.

The three were reportedly seen in Cartersville, about an hour northwest of Atlanta, last Monday. Spalding County is just under an hour south of Atlanta.
