Missing 12-Year-Old Is Still In Danger, Georgia Authorities Say

An arrest warrant has been filed for Brooklyn Smith's father, Steven Keith Spires.

GAINESVILLE, GA — A 12-year-old Georgia girl who went missing from her home last week is still believed to be in danger, despite mysterious phone calls in which she said she was safe and with unnamed friends.

Hall County Sheriff's deputies believe that, instead, Brooklyn Smith is with her biological father, Steven Keith Spires, 31, and his 19-year-old girlfriend, Carmen Clay.

Spires has an active arrest warrant for tampering with custody, the sheriff's office said Tuesday.
