Missing Lake Lanier Boater Identified As Atlanta Man

The man went missing Friday in the lake's channel, where water is 125 feet deep.

CUMMING, GA β€” State law enforcement officials have identified the boater who went missing on Lake Lanier on Friday as an Atlanta man.

Troy Landers Keijuan Harden, 29, was last seen in an area in the center of the lake's channel between Aqualand Marina and Port Royal Marina, according to Georgia Department of Natural Resources law enforcement.

DNR spokesman Mark McKinnon said rangers have encountered difficulties during their search for Harden.

"Rangers are using sonar, but the 125-foot-deep water and the heavy timber along the bottom are making the search very difficult," McKinnon said. "The search efforts are primarily being conducted in the evenings and overnight due to heavy boat traffic during the day."

DNR officials have not released detailed information about what happened to Harden. McKinnon said Monday that more information will be shared as it becomes available.
