Forsyth Schools Returning To In-Person Learning On Monday
Forsyth Schools said they will be returning to face-to-face instruction on Monday, Jan. 10, but to expect some transportation delays.
CUMMING, GA — Forsyth Schools said they will be returning to face-to-face instruction on Monday, Jan. 10.
Superintendent Jeff Bearden released a statement on Friday, and said to expect some isolated transportation delays.
"Our 41 schools will remain open this semester if we can staff them," Bearden said. "Please be prepared to pivot if any school is unable to operate due to a shortage of staff. If this occurs, it will transition to virtual learning until we are able to adequately staff the school."

Bearden asked parents and guardians to keep sick or symptomatic children at home. Students or staff awaiting a COVID test result must stay home while waiting for the results.
He also said the district encourages all staff and students to wear a mask while indoors and to social distance when feasible, along with frequent hand washing, keeping work areas clean, and covering up coughs, and sneezes.

"I hope that COVID cases begin to decline this month as rapidly as they increased," Bearden said. "Just as we did during first semester, we will return to normal operations once our local data shows that it is safe to do so. Again, thank you all for your patience and understanding. Students need to be in school and we want them to be in school. I’m looking forward to a very productive and enjoyable second semester."
The district released a statement on Monday stating that, "to assess our ability to staff schools and transport students, Forsyth County Schools will have virtual learning days for all students on Thursday and Friday, Jan. 6-7."
Tuesday, Jan. 4 and Wednesday, Jan. 5 are professional development days, so a student holiday.
