Happy Tiara Tuesday! This week we feature a dainty and beautiful turquoise tiara, celebrating December’s birthstone. This button-style tiara features a larger set of turquoise stones, each completely surrounded by diamonds, with a smaller set of turquoises in between them, all atop a diamond scroll frame. The tiara is part of a set that includes a necklace, earrings, and a brooch.
The parure belonged to Princess Victoria Adelaide of Schleswig-Holstein (1855-1970), previous Duchess of Saxe-Coburg & Gotha, who married Charles Edward, the Duke, in 1905.
Today we see the tiara on Princess Kelly, one of the few Americans who have married into royal families. She is the American-born wife of Hubertus, the current Hereditary Prince of Saxe-Coburg & Gotha (Victoria Adelaide's great grandson). Luckily, Killy has worn this piece out a few times recently, wo we've gotten to enjoy seeing it worn on a beautiful head, nonetheless.
We look forward to seeing this special and unique turquoise tiara more in the coming years. Thanks for reading and have a glamorous Tiara Tuesday!
