Sen. Jack Murphy (R-Cumming) has been named as one of the most influential state senators, according to James Magazine, a political and news magazine for Georgia governmental and civic leaders. He was named in the 2013 Georgia Power Brokers edition.
“I am honored to be named part of a distinguished list of influential lawmakers,” said Sen. Murphy in a press release. “As Georgia continues on the path of economic recovery, I will remain dedicated to shaping and influencing public policy to make Forsyth County and our state the best place to work, live and play.”

"I am honored and humbled to again be recognized by James Magazine but I didn’t run for this job to receive recognition; I ran to provide effective conservative leadership for the citizens of Georgia and to represent the citizens of Cumming and Forsyth County to the best of my ability," said Rep. Hamilton in a press release Tuesday. "I hope any recognition I receive along the way simply means that I am accomplishing those goals."
During the recent 2013 legislative session, Rep. Hamilton became the Chairman of the House Industry and Labor Committee, after previously serving as the Chairman of the House Governmental Affairs Committee. He also became a member of the influential House Rules Committee and once again served as a member of the House Committee on Assignments.
