Six Pinecrest Basketball Players Recognized by Region 8

Pinecrest Academy announces that six players have been recognized by the basketball coaches of Class A Region 8 for their outstanding play this past season.

For the second straight season, Pinecrest boys are represented with a First Team All-region recognition for junior Nicklaus Palmer. Nick averaged nearly 19 point in region play in addition to averaging 5 assists, 3 rebounds and 3 steals. Nick led the team in charges drawn and was second on the team in defensive deflections.
Freshman Sean Flanigan was recognized on the All-region Second Team, the only underclassman to be recognized on the first or second team by the region coaches. Sean averaged nearly 11 points, 3 assists and 2 steals per game while being second on the team in charges drawn and third in defensive deflections.

Senior Amanda Boyd was recognized on the All-region Second Team. A tremendous worker, Amanda led the team in scoring with 11.6 points per game and also led the team in rebounding with 6.8 rebounds per game. Amanda has been a leader this season on and off the court.

Senior Michael Bruckner was selected to be Honorable Mention for the All-Region team. A two-year varsity starter, Michael averaged 10 points and 8 rebounds and 3 blocks per game un region play this season. Michael was a tremendous team leader and defensive anchor for Pinecrest this season.

Mary Margaret Metz was selected to be Honorable Mention for the All-Region team. She performed well coming in as a freshman point guard. She started every game this season and was second in scoring with 11.1 points per game. Mary Margaret led the team in assists with 2.6 assists per game.

Maggie Herd was selected to be Honorable Mention for the All-Region team. Maggie broke two school records this season. She has the most three-point field goals in a game with 7 and the most three-point field goals in a season with 59. Maggie also leads the team in steals with 2.8 steals per game.
