Spring Cleaning

Spring Cleaning is usually a good thing. Unless you are like me and just can't seem to get it done in the Spring. Mine should be called Summer Cleaning - that is when I get to that kind of stuff - going through closets, the basement, etc. With that in mind, I already have a corner of the basement dedicated to the "get rid of" pile. What to do with the ever-growing pile? I CAN help with that! Each year at the end of summer, our church holds a Yard Sale for Missions. We ask for the community for donations, volunteers to sort, price and work the public sale. All the proceeds are dedicated to missions to our community that is supported by our church. This year's sale will be held on Friday, August 23, 9 am until 8 pm and Saturday, August 24 from 8 am until 12 Noon. All donations should be clean and in good working condition. We do not accept electronics such as TVs and computers. People can bring their donations to the church from August 19-21. Cumming First United Methodist Church is located at 770 Canton Hwy in Cumming - you know, the one on the side of the mountain with the pumpkins out front in October. If you need to call us, the number is 770.887.2900. If you need help getting your stuff here, we can help with that too. We will begin scheduling pick up donations on July 14. The missions effort that will benefit this year is the literacy program and Hispanic ministries. These programs teach English as a Second Language and provide tutoring in computer classes and GED classes. So, join me in a late start to spring cleaning and help folks learn at the same time. It will make you feel blessed!
