For ten years, Gavin lived a good life; he had someone who loved and cared for him. Then his owner got married, and since the new husband didn't like cats, Gavin was left behind with someone who fed him but did not have any affection for him. I received an email from this person, who said that she would take the cat to be euthanized if we couldn't take him into our program. She was getting new furniture delivered, she explained to me, and did not want it ruined by a cat she didn't even like. We accepted this guy into our program, where he waits for his second chance. He is affectionate and loving and very talkative, but he does not like dogs. A quiet home would be best for him, since he spooks easily from loud noises.
