Teen Dies As Forsyth Drug Overdoses Continue

The 19 year old was the fourth drug overdose, and second fatal one, that Forsyth County authorities have reported since the weekend.

CUMMING, GA — A 19 year old died from a drug overdose Monday, marking the fourth overdose, and second deadly one, Forsyth County authorities have reported since the weekend.

The Monday overdose happened in the Polo Fields area of Cumming, according to a Forsyth County Sheriff's Office spokesman. Investigators were still working to determine the exact nature of the death and the drug involved.

The death comes after a weekend during which the sheriff's office reported three drug overdoses in a 15-hour period.

On Sunday, Jacob Riley Oglesby, 33, was found dead in his home of an apparent heroin overdose, authorities say. A sheriff's deputy arrived at the home, on Valley Lane, at about 5:26 a.m. to find Oglesby unresponsive, not breathing and without a pulse.

The deputy attempted to administer the anti-overdose drug Narcan to Oglesby, but got no response. Deputies found what appeared to be heroin, marijuana and Xanax in Oglesby's backpack and a syringe and spoon with a brown substance in it in the bathroom where he was discovered.

At about 1:26 p.m. on Sunday, Oglesby's girlfriend, a 28-year-old woman, was found having suffered an overdose at the same address. Her father called the sheriff's office after arriving at the home to find her unconscious and having trouble breathing.

EMS personnel administered Narcan and she was taken to the hospital in serious condition, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies found large amounts of heroin, marijuana, cocaine, Xanax and other pills throughout the house, as well as three handguns. A syringe was found in a garbage pail in the woman's bedroom.

Then, shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday, a 30-year-old man in Suwanee suffered an overdose. The man's girlfriend told deputies he had "snorted Oxy," short for Oxycontin.

He was conscious, but not coherent, when deputies arrived and was transported to a hospital, where he was listed in serious condition, according to the sheriff's office.

Investigators were looking into whether a bad batch of heroin or another drug contributed to the sudden rash of overdoses but, according to a sheriff's office spokesman, nothing had been concluded as of Tuesday morning.
