THINKING ABOUT SELLING? NOW IS THE PERFECT TIME TO PLAN AHEAD!

If you’re thinking about putting your home on the market, proper planning can make all the difference when it comes to adding that extra bit of shine which will help your house sell quickly.

For many of us, these cool fall and winter months lend themselves to a cozy sense of hibernation which often leaves us feeling more apt to curl up on the couch than to tackle tasks around the house;  however, don’t shy away from using the low temperatures as an excuse to stay indoors and catch up on some value-increasing projects.

To start, shush your inner packrat and lighten your load (literally!) by purging all of that unneeded clutter.  When you give your house breathing space, you make it easier for prospective buyers to envision their lives within the walls of your home.  Still, while less is definitely more when it comes to those knick-knacks and accessories, for all of your precious keep-sakes, utilize out-of-sight storage and simply think of it as getting a head start on your packing!

While you’re at it, you can accent your new, organized surroundings by freshening up with a few coats of neutral paint and some soft-glowing bulbs in your home lighting.  If you want your house to feel warm and comfortable at the end of the day, you can bet that your buyers will be looking for the same sense of home, so make a point to create an inviting atmosphere—your pocketbook will thank you later.

Lastly, while many of us tend to pay less attention to our yards this time of year, use these winter months to amp up your early-spring curb appeal.  By installing some fresh, blooming shrubs and cool-weather annuals, you won’t have to worry about rushing to get things trimmed and planted into shape when the temperatures begin to rise.
