Two Workers Electrocuted in West Forsyth

The men sustained life-threatening injuries when their crane struck a power line, knocking out electricity to northwest Forsyth County.

CUMMING, GA β€” Two workers in west Forsyth County sustained life-threatening injuries Wednesday morning when a crane they were working on struck a power line.

The men were part of a crew working off of Drew Campground Road in the Moss Creek Estates subdivision just before 9 a.m., according to Forsyth County Fire Department Division Chief Jason Shivers.

The men were part of a crew working on framing a house. The crane was being used to lift trusses into place.

The men sustained what Shivers called "critical, life-threatening" burn injuries and were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

The accident knocked out power to much of northwest Forsyth County for nearly a half-hour.

No details were immediately available about the workers' conditions at Grady.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) officials were notified and were still on the site of the accident Wednesday afternoon.
