Here are the top three stories in Cumming today:
- West Forsyth High School graduate Indiana Stanley helped lead the Savannah Bananas, a Coastal Plain League collegiate baseball team, to back-to-back titles. "Honestly, I kind of wish we lost today so we could play another game," All-Star catcher Stanley said moments after the game. The team celebrated with a dogpile on the mound, doused each other with sparkling grape juice and took turns holding the championship trophy. Stanley is a junior out of Columbia University in Missouri. (Savannah Morning News)
- The South Forsyth High School softball team improved to 2-0 including a 7-1 win over defending Class 7A champion North Gwinnett Saturday. The War Eagles defeated Hebron Christian in an 8-1 victory at Mill Creek. West Forsyth also won it's first game of the season, knocking off East Forsyth 4-2 with a late two-run homerun by Abby Williams. Williams, a senior, also pitched seven solid innings (Forsyth County News).
- The Perfect Pigg, a gift shop featuring unique gifts and home décor in north Forsyth, is hosting a Fall Open House August 25-27. The event is packed with surprises, giveaways, food, fun and more. August 25th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. there will be a free gift with $50 purchase as well as food, drinks and prizes every hour. Friday and Saturday, August 26-27 there will be outside vendors, food, prizes.
