  1. Patrick Hall has big plans for Coo Coo's Nest, a popular restaurant and sports bar on Freedom Parkway and Pilgrim Mill Road that has sat vacant for the past five years. Hall plans to restore the building to its former glory and open Hall & Hound Brewing Company. He purchased the 5-acre plot in March of last year with hopes of opening the brewpub in November of this year. His main goal is to create a casual vibe for friends and families to enjoy handcrafted beer and good food. (Subscription/Forsyth County News)
  2. Are more apartments coming to Forsyth County? Applicant Retail Planning Corporation has submitted a request to rezone approximately 140 acres of land off Keith Bridge and State Barn Roads near Central Park from agricultural district (A1) to mixed-use center district (MCD) for 172 townhomes, 456 apartments and 200 age-restricted apartments. The application also proposes about 700,00 square feet of commercial space, 2,259 parking spaces and about 30 acres of open greenspace. A public participation meeting, hosted by the developer, is scheduled for Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Central Park Banquet Room where residents are encouraged to attend to learn more about the project, chat with the developer, and voice questions or concerns.   3. Who said homeschooling can't be fun? Warbington Farms is hosting a Homeschool Fall Field Trip Day from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. today at the farm, 5555 Crow Road. Students will rotate through five stations: corn maze, hayride, petting zoo, fun park and pumpkin patch. If you can't make it today, Warbington is hosting another one Monday, Oct. 17.   4. The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office will be hosting its monthly Seniors and Lawmen Together (S.A.L.T.) meeting today from 10-11 a.m. at the FOP Sgt. David P. Land Memorial Lodge located at 248 Castleberry Industrial Drive. The meeting is open to all Forsyth County senior citizens and will feature different speakers and topics pertaining to senior safety.   • Forsyth County Sheriff's Office is reminding motorists to park their phone before they drive. Georgia is a hands-free state. Drivers cannot have a phone in their hand or touching any part of their body while driving. (Forsyth County Sheriff's Office via Facebook)

  • Forsyth County Public Library is looking for teenagers interested in serving on a Teen Advisory Board (TAB). TAB is for teens in grades 6-12 that help plan and promote teen programs in the county's libraries. It's designed to help students gain leadership experience, help the community and meet new people.
