WHY YOU SHOULD THANK THE ADMINISTRATIVE PROFESSIONAL IN YOUR LIFE (PART I)

If you haven’t already heard, April 21st marks the beginning of Administrative Professional’s Week, which means that it’s time to show some appreciation to the receptionists, executive assistants, and administrators in your life. 

While it’s no secret that these positions often fail to garner the amount of everyday respect that they rightfully should, it’s important to note that most assistants lay the very groundwork which allows a large portion companies to function.  Therefore, as we find ourselves moving into April, remembering why administrative professionals deserve our gratitude should be something we take into consideration.

1.) HUNGRY?—Assistants and other front office professionals are often in charge of coordinating lunch orders and planning all of those noontime meetings.  Although this may not seem like a big thing, a great assistant will remember things such as restaurant preferences and food allergies, which means they can make the difference between eating a limp turkey sandwich or relishing takeout from the new bistro around the corner.

2.) MEET THE GATEKEEPER—Administrative professionals are not only the guardians of your time and schedule, but they are also in charge of creating the ever-important first impression.  (S)He is the first person that your clients will talk to, so they not only control who has access to you, but they actually set the tone for the entire office.
