Here are the top stories in and around Cumming today:

  1. Calling all witches! The Place of Forsyth County will be hosting a Witches Night Out Thursday, Oct. 13 from 6-10 p.m. at Halcyon. There will be dancing, costume contests with prizes, adult trick-or-treating, photo booths, trivia, Halloween-themed cocktails and more. Tickets are $12 for this Halloween Ladies Night Out and all proceeds benefit The Place. Raffle tickets will be on sale as well. (The Place)
  2. On Oct. 6, the Forsyth County Department of Water and Sewer issued a boil water advisory as a precautionary measure after a telecommunications contractor struck a water line in the Pilgrim Mill Road peninsula area. If you are in an affected area, water should be boiled for at least one full minute after reaching a full boil. (Forsyth County Government)
  3. In partnership with the Forsyth County Health Department, Forsyth County Schools is holding a no-cost flu shot clinic for Forsyth County children ages 4-18 Wednesday, Oct. 19 from 2-6 p.m. Oct. 19 is an early release day, and the clinic will be held at the ACE Building, 1160 Dahlonega Highway in Cumming. A parent or guardian must accompany all students. If you have medical insurance or Medicaid, please bring it with you. (Forsyth County Schools)
  4. "I see dead people." Well, maybe you can too as the Southeastern Institute of Paranormal Research is hosting an educational seminar called Ghost Hunting 101 from 5:30-9 p.m. today at Hampton Park Library. Learn about hauntings, psychic studies, equipment and evidence. Visitors can then put that knowledge to use with a hands-on ghost hunt in the library. Adults only and registration is required. About me: I've lived in Cumming since 2010. I'm married with two kids, both in Forsyth County Schools. I consider myself a jack of all trades. I love solid news reporting, scoring baseball games, playing golf, watching movies, reading books, doing crossword puzzles, listening to music, competing in fantasy leagues, commissioning said fantasy leagues, playing poker, trying new foods, traveling, and hanging with friends and family. I appreciate you stopping by.
