• South Georgia first responders mourn loss of two longtime public servants (walb.com) — Cuthbert residents are mourning the death of longtime Fire Chief Gregory Fairbanks, who served the city’s fire department for more than 30 years and died on Saturday, Sept. 12. Regional agencies are offering condolences to his family and colleagues, while Albany is also grieving veteran police Sergeant Paul Guhl. Funeral and memorial details for both men are still pending.
