Hill allegedly shot Gwenevere McCord, 43, of Jonesboro, Sunday in a model home near Lawrenceville. McCord was found shot in the abdomen and taken in critical condition at Gwinnett Medical Center, where she has remained.
Police said Hill called 911 at 5:39 p.m. Sunday to report the accidental shooting at the model home located at 2567 Britt Trail Drive, located near Tribble Mill Park. McCord is an agent for Paran Realty and worked at the model home.
Neither Hill nor police have revealed much more about what happened leading up to the shooting. Hill hasn’t spoken with police.
“Sheriff Victor Hill was afforded the opportunity to provide a statement about the incident but he declined to comment,” Gwinnett Police said in the Wednesday night news release.
On Tuesday, the sheriff released a brief statement on the incident, which he called a “tragic and heartbreaking accident.” He asked for prayers for McCord.
