Gwinnett Man Arrested in $31,000 Online Scam
Police say Jack Oviedo, 25, pretended to sell a car online then just took the money.
DACULA, GA — A Gwinnett County man accused of scamming someone out of $31,000 online has been arrested.
Gwinnett County Police say Jack Oviedo, 25, of Buford, was arrested and booked into jail on Friday. He faces a charge of felony theft by taking.
The victim, from Auburn, was attempting to buy a 2013 Infinity QX56 from who he thought was an out-of-state dealer over the internet.

On November 3, Gwinnett County Police say the man wired $31,400 to a BB&T account at the direction of the seller.
He was told the vehicle would be delivered within the following week, but it was never delivered and the seller stopped all communications.

The victim's money was traced to a BB&T account that was opened by someone under a fake identity.
Video surveillance images show a man police say is Oviedo withdrawing the funds at several metro Atlanta locations, including the BB&T at 3485 Braselton Hwy. in Dacula.
