Man Wanted in Deputy-Involved Shooting Apprehended

Gwinnett Police have arrested the suspected driver of the car that drew gunfire from a Gwinnett County deputy Monday night near Hoschton.

Marc Black, 26, of Braselton, was arrested Wednesday night around 7:30 p.m., according to Gwinnett Police Cpl. Michele Pihera.

Black was arrested by the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office after he was seen leaving a home in Flowery Branch as a passenger in a car driven by a woman, who was not previously involved in the incident.

He is being held without bond at the county jail on a charge of aggravated assault upon a peace officer.

Black is accused of driving a car at a Gwinnett County deputy Monday night in the Hoschton area, drawing gunfire from the deputy. The gunshot struck the windshield of the car, but there were no reported injuries.

According to a police, deputies from Gwinnett and Walton counties were serving a warrant for a female suspect around 6 p.m. Monday at 4960 Braselton Highway just before the incident happened.

The deputies noticed a suspicious car parked toward the back of the property and when they approached, the car sped off around the house and through the front yard.

Police said the car was allegedly headed toward a Gwinnett deputy when the officer fired his weapon.

Two woman who were also in the car have cooperated with police and have not been charged.

The car was reported stolen out of Florida.
