• House Judiciary Committee to Hold Court of Appeals Meeting in Dahlonega (house-press.com) — A major state-level legal meeting is coming to the University of North Georgia’s Dahlonega campus on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 1 p.m. Members of the Georgia House Judiciary Committee and Georgia Court of Appeals will hold a public work session there. Local residents, attorneys, and anyone interested in appellate court issues are encouraged to attend, with more venue and livestream details coming soon.

• No. 3 Nighthawks Drop Opening Game of Southeast Regional in Extra Inning Battle to Lincoln Memorial (peachbeltconference.org) — UNG’s top-ranked Nighthawks softball team battled through 12 innings in Dahlonega before falling 8–7 to Lincoln Memorial in their Southeast Regional opener, snapping a 12-game win streak. They now drop into the elimination bracket and must win twice Saturday, starting with a 2:30 p.m. showdown against Columbus State, to keep their postseason run alive.
