Intown Ace Hardware One of the Chain's 'Coolest' Stores

The Ace Hardware chain has named in Decatur one of its "coolest stores."'

Five other Ace stores in the 4,600-store chain were named cool this year, said Dave Jones, who co-owns the Scott Boulevard business with Tony Powers.

"We're flattered," Jones said Friday. "We think it's true."

Intown Ace found out Thursday when they received a big cookie in the mail from the home office. The cookie means that Ace stories are not cookie-cutter enterprises, Jones said. The icing spells out "2012 Ace Coolest Store."

According to the Ace corporate webpage, "Ace is the largest retailer-owned cooperative and clear leader in the convenience segment of the hardware industry in terms of wholesale and retail sales and strength of the brand."
