Peach State Health Plan Honors Decatur’s Dr. Iyabo Okuwobi, M.D. with 2014 Summit Award
ATLANTA (May 9, 2014) – Peach State Health Plan is pleased to announce that Dr. Iyabo Okuwobi, M.D., president and clinical director, Milestone Pediatrics, Decatur, Ga., has received the prestigious Summit Award, the company’s highest designation for a health care provider. The Summit Award is given annually to physicians, practitioners, and obstetricians for providing clinical excellence.
In honoring Dr. Okuwobi with the Summit Award, Peach State Health Plan determined that she demonstrated exemplary performance in several key areas, including follow up after emergency room visits and routine preventive and well care services for adults and children. Dr. Okuwobi is also being recognized for providing quality care and improving health outcomes for Peach State Health Plan members.

“I am so honored to receive this prestigious distinction. I consider myself very fortunate to be able to proudly follow my calling and impact the lives of those in my community on a daily basis,” remarked Dr. Okuwobi.
Dr. Okuwobi is a board certified pediatrician and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She has extensive experience in primary health care of newborns, children and adolescents. She completed her medical education at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Nigeria, where she developed her interest in caring for children. She then traveled to the U.K. and practiced general pediatrics, neonatology and other pediatric sub-specialties for four years. She completed her pediatric residency at the Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center in New York, and served as the chief resident in her final year of residency. In 2001, Dr. Okuwobi relocated to Atlanta, where she founded Milestone Pediatrics.
