Fifteen people died in traffic accidents on Georgia roads during the Memorial Day weekend, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The holiday traffic weekend went from 6 p.m. Friday, May 22 to midnight Monday May 25.
Of the fatalities reported, eight were investigated by the state patrol, seven by local agencies.

The state patrol investigated nine traffic deaths in 2014; in all, 17 died on Georgia roads last year, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
Two water-related deaths were reported during the holiday weekend, including a man who fell out of his boat and drowned on the Chattahoochee River Saturday.
Also, the Georgia Department of Resources told the AJC a man’s body was found in a pond Saturday in Catoosa County in northwest Georgia.
