• Villa Rica families protest city roadway plan: "They're trying to take our home" (cbsnews.com) — Villa Rica homeowners are fighting a city roadway project that could use eminent domain to take nine remaining properties, including a longtime family home in a traditionally Black neighborhood. City officials say the new parkway to downtown Villa Rica is vital for growth, but residents argue the plan shows little compassion for families who may be forced to relocate.
   

• 12 people killed on Georgia roads over Memorial Day weekend (thegeorgiasun.com) — Georgia’s Memorial Day weekend was deadly on the roads, with 12 people killed and 222 injured in crashes statewide, including incidents investigated in the Villa Rica patrol area. Troopers made over 18,000 traffic stops, issued thousands of citations, and arrested hundreds for DUI as investigations continue and final numbers may still change.
