Cherokee County dispatchers advised officers that one of the suspects allegedly ”jumped over the pharmacy counter, grabbed prescription medication and put the medications into his black backpack before exiting the store,” Woodstock police spokesperson Brittany Duncan said.
Duncan added officers, who had knowledge of a similiar incident that occurred in Cobb County earlier Thursday evening, arrived onto the scene as the suspects were exiting the store.
One suspect was taken into custody without incident and the other suspect was apprehended after a short foot pursuit, Duncan stated.
The suspects, Saabir Muhammad, 20, and Clarence Maurice Logan, 21, both of Douglasville, were transported to the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center.
Duncan stated the agency is working closely with surrounding law enforcement agencies to determine if similar incidents throughout the metro Atlanta area are connected to this latest case in Woodstock.
Charges against the two suspects are pending, Duncan said.
