Roads are selected to be paved based on a surface condition list developed and evaluated by the DCDOT and approved by the Georgia Department of Transportation. An attempt is made to annually pave approximately the same mileage in each County Commission District. The majority of funding for the paving program comes from the State Motor Fuel Tax which comes back to local governments through the GDOT Local Maintenance Improvement Grant program.
