Is it possible for two people striving to be one to have a spiritual connection? I am not talking about just going to church. You can go to church everyday and lack to have a spiritually connected marriage. I am talking about having the same core spiritual convictions and building a Christ-centered marriage.
It is not a surprise that religion is one of the four top reasons for divorce in America. Spiritual connection is essential to build a lasting marriage.

1. Prayer - Praying with my spouse has allowed me to hear his victories, his struggles and how he stays connected to God. Prayer has been a source of humility for us when we faced tough times. Prayer has helped us to forgive each other. Prayer helps us to focus on how we can move forward. This is one of my favorites assignment for couples. Prayer helps build intimacy.
2. Reading the Bible together – The Bible is living and active. Scriptures have convicted us to keep our eyes on Christ and his example of marriage. Reading the Bible with my spouse has convicted me the power of submission. Scriptures on love, forgiveness, mercy and greeting each other with Holy kiss will convict you to reflect actions of love, forgiveness and so forth in your marriage. What I really love is knowing that my spouse has a wonderful guide that reflects ultimate love and he is reading it with me and putting it in practice. This is romance.

3. Reading a spiritual marriage book together – I love reading marriage book with my spouse because we are investing in our marriage. Looking at biblical principles that are tailored to strengthen and enhance our marriage set us for success. Reading and practicing what we read challenge us to grow more.
