$488K Lottery Prize Winner in Douglasville (ICYMI)

A Douglasville man, Dan Casteel, 63, matched all five winning numbers from the April 5 Fantasy 5 drawing, winning the $488,279 jackpot prize, according to the Georgia Lottery Corporation in an announcement.

The winning numbers from the April 5 Fantasy 5 drawing were: 3-14-33-38-39. Exxon Food Mart, 5040 Highway 5 in Douglasville, sold the winning Quik Pik ticket.

“This is one of the biggest events of my life,” Casteel said to the Georgia Lottery Corporation.

The lucky winner retired four years ago working in logistics for The Kroger Co. He and his wife have two adult children and four grandchildren.

“At my age, it feels so nice to have a nest egg,” said Casteel to the Georgia Lottery Corporation.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $16 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.7 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program, according to the Georgia Lottery Corporation.
