7-Year-Old Becomes Member of MENSA

Amerie Mills, a 7-year old Douglasville native, recently became a member of the American MENSA organization. In order to be in the High IQ Society, you have to score higher than 98 percent of the population in standardized intelligence tests. Amerie attends Chapel Hill Christian School and school administrators gave her the test. Chapel Hill Christian School, fully accredited from Preschool through 5th grade, partners with parents to provide quality education for their children.

“The school has been instrumental in developing and guiding her both academically and spiritually. We recognized that she picked up concepts quickly and loved to read and do math problems,” Amerie's mom, Monique Mills, said in an email. “We are excited about the opportunity MENSA offers for children to connect with others who enjoy learning through their stimulating intellectual and social environments offered both in person and online."

Amerie wants to be a pediatrician when she grows up and already speaks of her future college plans. She is a child who loves the Lord and is a member of the Church at Chapel Hill in Douglasville. 

“We expect Amerie to have a meaningful impact on the world as someone who loves God and loves to help people and bring joy to everyone around her," mom said. "There is no doubt in my mind that she will become the doctor that she dreams of being one day."

American MENSA is an organization for anyone who scores in the top two percent of the general population on standardized intelligence tests. They have more than 57,000 members, some as young as three years old.
