8,000 Expected for Big Weekend in Douglasville
Hot Rods on Main, Google STEM Fair, and Georgia Gravity Games highlight fall events in Douglasville.

Each fall, Douglasville is host to an exciting two-day lineup of family-fun events. Among traditional favorites, a collection of new and improved events will debut this fall, including Hot Rods on Main and the Google STEM Fair on October 24, followed by the Georgia Gravity Games on October 25.Douglasville will be home to the first Georgia Gravity Games hosted by Google—the world’s leader in Internet-related services and products.
The Georgia Gravity Games will highlight the weekend with a soapbox derby featuring 21 racers from local schools, business, public service groups, and non-profits. Enhanced with Google flair and excitement, the downhill race adventure is sure to be an extraordinary experience for all ages to enjoy.

It is anticipated that combined, the two-day weekend of events will attract more than 8,000 visitors to downtown Douglasville.

Description: Revving with family-fun entertainment, Hot Rods on Main features a hot rods and motorcycles showcase, vendors, and a concert by acoustic singer Noah Sampson.
Organized By: Main Street Douglasville
Attendance: A group of people comprised of corporate sponsors, vendors, employees and their families, elected officials, general public, students and their families, car show participants, event staff and volunteers.

- Google STEM Fair

Douglasville Conference Center

Description: The Google STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) Fair will simultaneously take place with Hot Rods on Main festivities. The STEM fair, a pre-event opening for the Georgia Gravity Games, gives students the opportunity to display their cars and share how they applied STEM skills throughout construction. Southern Polytechnic Formula SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) Motorsports Team will also conduct a presentation about the importance of engineering and technology in building custom racecars.

Description: The Georgia Gravity Games is a real-world experience for students and adults from across the state to use STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) skills to build and race their own gravity-powered soapbox cars. Douglasville will be home to the first Georgia Gravity Games.
