Agents Dismantle Heroin Distribution Ring in Douglas County

Sheriff's Office says 21 people were arrested, including the distributor and source of the drugs.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says it has arrested 21 people in connection with a heroin distribution ring operating in the eastern part of the county.

The office said in a news release posted on its website that Special Investigations Division agents seized heroin, trafficking amounts of methamphetamine, prescription narcotics, stolen property and firearms.

Gregory Threlkeld of Douglasville was identified as a heroin distributor. According to the news release, undercover agents made several purchases from Threlkeld, who also has been linked to more that 100 heroin transactions over the past month.

He is being held in the Douglas County jail without bond and faces nine felony charges.

“During the investigation, other co-conspirators were identified and different levels of involvement were established,” the sheriff’s office said in the news release.

Also arrested was Robert Fleming of Atlanta, who police called the source of the heroin coming into the county. Fleming is also being held in the county jail without bond.

The sheriff’s office said warrants are pending for many of the suspects.
