Air Force Vet Lawrence Shadix, 82, Dies

The funeral service was held Wednesday, Dec. 18, at the Rosehaven Chapel with Chaplain Bert Carmichael officiating.

Lawrence Shadix, 82 of Winston, passed away Sunday, Dec. 15. He was born March 10, 1931 in Douglasville.

Mr. Shadix was a retired veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He was also retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a city carrier with the Douglasville Post Office.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Annie Pilgrim Shadix; his brother, Clyde Shadix; and his sister, Geraldine Queen.

He is survived by his wife, Runell Shadix; sons, Steve Shadix and wife Deborah, David Shadix, Kenneth Clay and wife Janet, Randy Clay and wife Lisa; daughter, Joy Lawler; grandchildren, Lindsey Shadix, Reid Lawler, Amanda Clay, Brandon Clay, Phillip Clay, Ryan Daniel; great-granddaughter, Aubrie Clay; brother, Randall Shadix and wife Rose; sister, Christine Waldrop; step-brother, Clyde Walker; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was held Wednesday, Dec. 18, at the Rosehaven Chapel with Chaplain Bert Carmichael officiating. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA.
