Alexander Anglers Sweeten Sweetwater With Volunteer Effort

DOUGLASVILLE, GA – Sweetwater Creek State Park is a little cleaner after a visit from the Alexander High School Bass Fishing Team Saturday, April 28.

For their annual conservation project, team members worked with Ranger Don Scarborough to determine the most pressing needs of the park. The AHS anglers cleaned approximately two miles of shoreline around the lake and helped a local Boy Scout troop by sinking fish attractors to provide structure and habitat for the lake's fish population.

The AHS Fishing Team competes for the Georgia B.A.S.S. Nation High School series and participates in eight tournaments held all over the state. Boats that finish in the top 10 percent of each tournament qualify for the state classic in June. This year the state championship will take place at Lake Eufaula.
