DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Alexander High School choral students enjoyed a once-in-a-lifetime tour of Ireland from Dec. 26 through Jan. 3. The students performed three concerts of diverse music, including selections by composer and conductor Dr. Tim Sharp, who toured with the choir and served as guest conductor.
LeAndra Douds, sophomore at Alexander and harpist for the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, pulled double duty playing harp for the concerts and singing with the choir as well.
The first of the three concerts was in Tipperary, the second outside of Waterford, and the final concert was at Christ Church in Dublin. Major cities on the tour included Limerick, Waterford, and Dublin. Students enjoyed kissing the Blarney Stone, touring each town, and visiting the Rock of Cashel and the Cliffs of Moher. Students had the opportunity to mingle up close with the local people of Dublin as they sang Sacred Harp music together one evening.
