Alvin ‘Al’ George Evers, 95, Dies

The funeral mass was today at St. Theresa Catholic Church with Father Fernando Molina-Restrepo officiating.

Alvin ‘Al’ George Evers, 95 of Douglasville, passed away Saturday, Jan. 18.  He was born Feb. 22, 1918 in St. Joseph, TN.  He served his country as a Veteran of the U.S. Army in WWII and was a recipient of three Bronze Stars. He helped carry out the Philippine liberation. He was retired from Food Service in the U.S. Bureau of Federal Prisons. Mr. Evers was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Plyer Evers; and his parents, Ben and Minnie Beneaur Evers.

He is survived by a sister, Mary Evers; nieces and nephews; a stepson, Ronald L. Cundiff; two grandchildren, Robert L. Cundiff and Angela McGregor; one great-grandchild, Zackery McGregor.

The funeral mass was today at St. Theresa Catholic Church with Father Fernando Molina-Restrepo officiating. The Knights of Columbus will provide an Honor Guard. Interment with Military honors will follow at Rosehaven Memorial Park.
