Annie Belle Douglas Brock, 'Ma Brock,' 95, Dies

Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Rev. Kevin Maples and Dr. Rusty Brock officiating.

Annie Belle Douglas Brock, “Ma Brock” 95, of Douglasville, formerly of Macon, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 2. She was born June 7, 1918 in Columbia, AL., the daughter of the late Joseph Dewey Douglas and the late Ula Mae Gashaw. Having retired from Sears, after 28 years of service, Mrs. Brock moved back to Macon May 1, 1982. She joined Cherokee Heights Baptist Church where she was actively involved in many ministries. For 21 years she was Mission Support Chairman for Baptist Women, President of the “Ira Green” Sunday School Class, sang in both the sanctuary choir and “Saints Alive” Choir, and served as secretary for the Sunshine Group Senior Citizens Group. She was a charter member of New Heights Baptist Church formerly Cherokee Heights. After moving to Douglasville, she attended Dorsett Shoals Baptist Church, becoming a member March 18, 2007, and enjoyed being a part of the Cat Ministry. She was a devoted reader of the Holy Bible and loved sharing her faith with others. She enjoyed sewing. Ma Brock was devoted to her family and was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Joseph R. Brock; brothers, Broadus Douglas and Joe Douglas; sisters, Irene Hawkins and Margaret Campbell; and great-grandchild, Alyson.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, James R. Brock, Jr. and  Melba Brock of Douglasville, Dan and Angie Brock of Douglasville, and Carol Brock of Douglasville; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Elaine Douglas of Montezuma; sister-in-law, Betty Douglas of Dallas; nine grandchildren, Rusty (Kerry) Brock, Kim Coleman, Michael (Amrit) Brock, Laurie (Rusty) Shadix, Melinda Welker, Lisa Brock, Ashley (Jeff) Fitzgerald, Jennifer (Stacey) Folds, and Danny (Lisa) Brock; eleven great-grandchildren, Alayna, Brooke, Peyton, Brittany, Ashlin, Jacey, Jonathan, Kathryn, Natalie, Joseph, and Edwin; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Monday, Oct. 7, from 6 until 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Rev. Kevin Maples and Dr. Rusty Brock officiating. Interment and Graveside Service will be Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. at Macon Memorial Park in Macon. The following will serve as pallbearers: Robert Douglas, Mark Douglas, Rusty Shadix, Jody Douglas, Michael Brock and Danny Brock. Those desiring to do so may make memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Brock to New Heights Baptist Church, 158 Lamar Road, Macon, Georgia 31220, Dorsett Shoals Baptist Church, 5663 Dorsett Shoals Road, Douglasville, Georgia 30135, or homestead Hospice, 162 West Main Street, Suite 104, Cartersville, Georgia 30120.
