Annual Meeting Shows the Value of Co-Op Membership
GreyStone's most popular member event returns on Saturday, Oct. 11.

GreyStone Power’s most popular member event is back on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., when thousands will gather for the Annual Meeting of Members. The event will be held at GreyStone’s headquarters in Douglasville, located at 4040 Bankhead Highway.
The Annual Meeting is a free event for those customers, known as members, who receive electricity from the not-for-profit cooperative. The event will kick off with a free Chick-fil-A® biscuit, served from 8 to 10 a.m. Members can register in the GreyStone auditorium from 8 to 11 a.m. and are asked to bring an electric bill to simplify the registration process.
Children will have plenty to keep them entertained with inflatables, games, balloon artists, face painting and a chance to meet a lineman.

At the Energy Efficiency Expo tent, local businesses will demonstrate the benefits of energy-efficient products and services. A landscaping company will offer ways to shade your home, which can lower your power bill by cutting down on cooling costs. Other participating vendors can help members who are interested in upgrading their windows, blinds, insulation and/or HVAC units.
The Energy Efficiency Expo tent will also feature Energy Efficiency 101 (EE101) seminars led by the Residential Energy Services department. The EE101 seminars will teach members simple steps for saving energy around the house.

The Annual Meeting will also include a Health Fair tent to promote member wellness. Many booths will be set up with various screenings and information from 8 a.m. until noon. This year a doctor will be available to answer members’ health questions.
At 9:45 a.m., The Old Paths, a quartet of Southern gospel singers, will take the stage for a live performance. The group won two BMI® awards for Songs of the Year at the 2014 BMI Christian Awards.
Business owners who participate in the Co-op Connections® Card (CCC) program will also be at the event for members to learn about the exclusive discounts they offer.
Soldiers’ Angels will be in attendance at the meeting as well, giving members a chance to sign a Christmas card in support of a soldier overseas.
The business portion of the meeting starts at 11 a.m. and will include reports of officers, Directors and President/CEO Gary Miller and any other business. The Directors from District 2 (Paulding), District 6 (Fulton, Fayette and Coweta) and District 7 (Fulton), who were uncontested, will be elected by voice vote during the meeting.
GreyStone’s Nominating Committee selected incumbents John Walton (District 2), Maribeth Wansley (District 6) and Milton Jones (District 7) to serve full three-year terms.
The Annual Meeting finale will be door-prize giveaways, highlighted by the grand prize: a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado C1500 truck retired from the GreyStone fleet.
