April Mama of the Month - Dr. Melissa Grill Petersen
A powerhouse of positivity, Dr. Melissa inspires by helping others to transform their lives.
Mother love is the fuel that enables a normal human being to do the impossible. ~Marion C. Garretty, quoted in A Little Spoonful of Chicken Soup for the Mother's Soul
The first time I met Douglasville mom Dr. Melissa she was sitting in a sandbox. She was one of the most engaged moms I’d ever seen; acting like a good-natured maniac for the benefit of her then not-quite-one-year-old son, Topher. When I asked her what she did with her “off-time” she humbly paused, and with that wide grin of hers said, “Well… “ then promptly blew my mind with her wide-range of endeavors, which I’m certain require the best time management skills on the planet.
Dr. Melissa is a powerhouse of positivity; incredibly active in her community and beyond. When she isn’t an active Super Mom, Dr. Melissa is a doctor of natural chiropractic medicine, life coach, author, fitness teacher, public speaker, Executive Producer and Well-Living Expert who owns and is the “Chief Transformational Officer” of Flow Unlimited, a "Transformational Health & Well Living" coaching & consulting company whose mission is to help clients “transform what has been into what they desire it to be.” Dr. Melissa takes a “whole-istic” approach in all of her work, often incorporating many different disciplines and paths to achieve the desired goal for her clients . A few of Dr. Melissa’s accomplishments include being a noted Speaker for Spa/MedSpa Industry, Brand Ambassador and Educator for Wellness Companies, Talent & National Spokesperson for Turner/Time Warner, Golf Integration Coach seen on Southern Golf Weekly, Host & Executive Producer of Mission Green Life, former Fitness Ambassador for Team Reebok, author of the Journey into Be-ing. and developer of Mind/Body integration training and certification program for golfers, Flow for Golf. (See what I mean about being a master time manager!)

Here are Melissa’s answers to the Mama Matter’s M.O.M. Q & A:
- Hometown: Meadville, PA
- Where do you live in Douglasville: Tributary
- Tell us about your family: I am blessed with an amazing husband and soon to be 4-year old son. We love more than anything, being together and experiencing this adventure called life!
- Favorite activity with your family: Jumping on the Trampoline... We all belly laugh the entire time and imagine that we are everything from superheroes saving the day to animals in the forest. There is nothing better than playing and letting our imaginations lead the way.
- What you do for fun: I have fun doing so many things, mostly playing with my family and dog but beyond playtime, what I have a blast doing is dancing. It has and continues to be my space where I can experience more of myself and just freely be having fun.
- Favorite charitable cause: I have several but the biggest drive for me deals with our children and our planet. I am a firm believer that if we don't take care of our planet, where will our children live? I want to help inspire a deep sense of self and our planet within our young kids today. A few organizations that help in this regard and I support are the Nature Conservancy, St. Jude & Childfund.
Way to go, April M.O.M. Dr. Melissa! Thanks for contributing so much to our community!
