Animal Control IN DANGER LIST 10/23/12

Please if you can help save any of these animals let us know. We are very rescue and adopter friendly and do our best to accommodate you.

Please have a look at these dogs and cats and see if one of them might find a place in your home.  There are no better breeds than shelter dogs and cats. Why buy a pet from a store front mall or a breeder when you can adopt a wonderful shelter animal for a fraction of the cost.

Per the DC animal shelter staff:

"We have had a good run and have been able to avoid euthanasia for several weeks. However we are full and must move some animals. The volunteers and rescue community have been wonderful and have saved so many animals and we are reaching out again.

Prior to now we have not had to place cats on the danger list. Cats are easier to move around but when you run out of space you run out of space.

The following animals are in danger of being euthanized on Monday the 29th if not adopted or rescued."

Dogs:

  • · Candice 5553, she has been at the shelter since 7-28-12, she is a striking Brindle girl, she is playful and loving. She gets along great with dogs one on one.
  • · Lizzy 5887, she has been at the shelter since 9-6-12, she is a pretty brown girl with green eyes that sparkle. She is sweet and playful.
  • · Clyde 5802, He has been at the shelter since 8-24-12. Clyde is a crowd favorite around the shelter and has been neutered. He cannot be with other dogs and he is heartworm positive. The many challenges he faces make him hard to place.
  • · Joe 5900, He has been here since 9-8-12, A very handsome shep mix, he is a head strong boy and is selective about the friends he wants to hang out with. Currently housed alone, he needs to find a home where he can be loved and feel safe.
  • · King 5965 and Prince 5966, these two boys hang together but could definitely be placed separately. They do have their disagreements but life in a small area 24/7 will do that to the best of brothers.
  • · Ida 5980, She is a senior Lab girl, she has been at 9-17-12 and being a senior, needs to be in a warm place on these cold nights.
  • · Friartuck 6007, Handsome Black Lab, he is a sweet boy but not good with other animals and is heartworm positive, these challenges make him hard to place.
  • · Jenkins 6223, He is a gorgeous shiny lab mix with maybe Greyhound, he is fairly new but very afraid. He needs a safe place to feel secure.

Cats:

  • · Kevin 4487, he has been at the shelter since 4-24-12 He is neutered and had his rabies. Kevin is a sweet boy but has an odd looking face which causes people to shy away. He has slanted eyes and a pointy face and just does not look like the cute round face kitties that catch people’s eye.
  • · Tanner 4469 has been at the shelter since 5-9-12. He is a sweet chubby guy who has a continuosly runny nose. He has a healthy appetite and has completed several rounds of antibiotics.
  • · Malcolm 4869 has been at the shelter since 5-25-12. He is a sweet boy but also has a chronic stuffy nose. He eats, drinks and plays but always has a stuffy nose. Getting out of the shelter and into a low stress environment is a must to get the boy healthy.
  • · Emma Samson 4922, She has been at the shelter since 5-29-12. She is a sweet Tabby girl, she is healthy and gets along well with other cats. No explaination as to why she has not been adopted.
  • · Lauren 4933, She is a sweet, pretty, Black Beauty. She has been spayed and had her rabies vaccine. Black cats are the hardest place and Lauren has just not been able to compete with a room full of bright colored kitties.
  • · Tilly 4956, she has been at the shelter since 5-30-12, she is a pretty tortishell girl and just gets lost in the shuffle.
  • · Angel 4523, she has been at the shelter since 4-29-12, she is a sweet Tuxedo girl, very petite and loving.
