Animals in DANGER at DCAC

The Douglas County Animal Shelter remains at capacity and in critical need of adoptions and rescues of dozens of deserving and loving animals. During this time of year there is a steady stream of newborn, abandoned, stray and surrendered animals coming into the shelter each day.

In response to long standing community requests, the shelter has published a list of animals who are IN DANGER this week and disseminated that list to the public. IN DANGER means that these animals may be put to sleep this Friday if they are not adopted or rescued and space is needed for other animals arriving. Therefore, time may be extremely short for those animals identified on the IN DANGER list. They must be either adopted or rescued before 5 PM this Thursday or they risk being put down for space Friday morning before the shelter opens.

For those on FACEBOOK, please visit the IN DANGER page listing these animals at Rainbow Connections on Facebook. Each animal can each be viewed individually along with a brief biography on the IN DANGER page. These are all healthy loving animals who need a helping hand and a second chance at life.

All dogs have been vaccinated against Parvo, Distemper & Kennel Cough and all cats have been vaccinated against Feline Distemper and Rhino Trachitis. Many of the animals are already spayed/neutered and have had their rabies shots. Every animal adopted or rescued creates an available space and reduces the need for euthanasia on Friday, so please consider coming to the shelter before Thursday afternoon to see these animals and adopt one.
