Boy's & Girl's Club 19th Annual Spaghetti Dinner and Auction

Have a great dinner for just $10, support a very worthy cause, enjoy free entertainment and take advantage of great deals on sports memorabilia, trips and more. Make a date for Saturday August 27th!

On Saturday August 27, an amazing event is taking place at the First United Methodist Church in Douglasville. First, you can enjoy a delicious spaghetti dinner for just $10, and you don't even have to tip. Your meal starts with a salad from Hudson's Hickory House, famous Sweet Yeast Rolls from Texas Roadhouse, and spaghetti with marina sauce or a special white sauce from Sam & Rosco's Restaurant. Yum!

Second, you can help make a lasting difference in the life of a child, just by eating your dinner and supporting the Douglas County Boy's & Girl's Club . Third, you'll enjoy an intense competition between city and county employees trying to be “Smarter Than a Douglas County Fifth Grader.” Finally, you'll have an opportunity to bid on an astounding array of auction items. Today I had a sneak peek at just a few of the auction items: a guitar autographed by Travis Tritt, an autographed Dan Uggla baseball bat, a 32" TV, a 1200 watt generator, a Nigel Barker autographed photography book and a 4 day and 3 night beach house vacation in Destin, FL.

The 19th Annual Spaghetti Dinner and Sports Auction is being held in support of the yearly operating fund for the Douglas County Boy's & Girl's Club. The club, located on the campus of , serves more than 200 children and teenagers daily. It provides after school support during the school year as well as a full service summer program. The Douglas County Boy's & Girl's Club is part of the 28 Metro Atlanta Boy's & Girl's Clubs, totaling 17,000 members.

I helped with the event last year, which pitted Greystone Power and Georgia Power in the “Who's Smarter Than a Fifth Grader” competition. I was relieved that both teams knew that water was a better conductor of electricity than wood or plastic. The community support was incredible, the food was great, and the auction items were tempting. It's great entertainment, and you don't have to stay up late .
