FBI Targets Georgia – Who’s on their hit list now?

A recent AP story revealed that the FBI has formed a task force to investigate crime and corruption in Georgia. But who are they targeting this time? It’s not Insane Clown Posse gangs, it’s not bank robbers, it’s not drug trafficker, it’s judges, elected officials, and law enforcement agents. The very people we trust to enforce the law!

The FBI is investigating local public officials. Why? Georgia has a history of being one of the most corrupt states in the nation. Over the past 30 years hundreds of sheriffs, judges, politicians and government workers have been indicted, arrested and convicted for violating their oath of office or violation of state and federal laws.

State and local agencies have done little to keep local official in check and stop the corruption. Some public officials feel untouchable and protected by local law enforcement and judges who refuse to investigate and prosecute corrupt officials. Often district attorneys refuse to investigate and present evidence to grand juries for possible prosecution.

State agencies whose job it is to investigate wrong doings by public officials have become nothing more than dog and ponies shows, offering, at best, a slap on the wrist when public officials violate laws. Fines levied are often paid by taxpayers.

The FBI recognizes the depth of crime and corruption in this state and we should welcome their involvement to help restore confidence and integrity in the criminal justice system.
