On the road to health I made a pit stop.  The Emory Clinic offers a Comprehensive Heart Screening for only $150. A great deal for those, like me, without insurance.

This package includes several tests:

• coronary artery calcium scoring (CT heart scan*)
•  blood pressure
• lipid profile including cholesterol
• vascular age
• fasting blood glucose
• Framingham risk score to detect potential cardiovascular problems.
• At Emory your Heart CT will be read by both a cardiologist and a radiologist who are subspecialized in interpreting and diagnosing cardiothoracic abnormalities and diseases

*CT performed on 64-slice or dual-source CT scanners that do not require any medication to slow your heart rate

What is awesome about this deal is no doctor’s order is needed.  Anyone can go and get checked, but they recommend it for 40+.  I was able to get an appointment within two days, and they validated my parking.

The whole process took about half an hour and I received my CT results the same day. The final results will be mailed to you in about a week.  Don’t put it off, put it on. ;-)
