In Stillness, We Find Creativity, Purpose, Guidance
Find out how this photographer found a treasured connection in isolation
Ever see a beautiful sunset on the edge of the ocean? What about an exquisitely colored butterfly happily fluttering over a flower? Impressions like these tend to stay within our conscious giving us peace and pleasure. Zenpressions Photography owner and chief photographer Zenobia Morant thinks so, too. She started capturing such moments seven years ago while on her tour of duty in Diego Garcia, a little island located in the Indian Ocean.
Zenobia, a retired hospital corpsman with the U.S. Navy, discovered her passion after hearing an inner voice telling her to purchase a camera. “I was stationed on the island [Diego Garcia] out in the middle of nowhere,” she said, “To relieve my isolation, I ordered a little camera and started taking photos. Later, I discovered my passion.” Photography is one of her natural talents… no formal training, but a true gift. She says that if she had never followed that voice, she would have never discovered it.
Sometimes when we are isolated, in the stillness of self, we discover creativity, purpose, guidance, and more. In essence, we discover who we truly are.

When discussing her motivation to seize nature’s splendor, Zenobia said, “I thought that I should be capturing this beauty. I wanted people to feel what I was feeling at that particular moment.”
Since then, she has evolved her passion into creating custom greeting cards using her photos. She also has expanded her focus to include documentary, commercial and portrait photography. To get a taste of the moments that Zenobia has experienced, visit her website and Facebook page.
